Our Purpose

Williams Rural Fire Protection District, established in the 1960's, is dedicated to the safety and well-being of the community of Williams, Oregon.  Situated near the heart of the 'downtown' intersection of Williams Highway, East Fork, and Cedar Flat, it is our goal to support, promote and provide high quality Fire, EMS and Life Safety services to the community we serve.  We are committed to the value and promotion of “community safety and awareness”.

Our Mission

It is our mission to be committed to quality, possess excellence in service, and have an emphasis on teamwork to protect life and property for the citizens of the Williams area.

Williams Rural Fire Protection District Goals

Provide Timely, High- Quality Fire, Rescue and EMS Response 

Highly trained part time and volunteer professionals responding to the emergency and non-emergency needs of the community quickly, competently and effectively.

​Provide High-Quality Volunteer Recruitment and Retention

Retain the current active volunteer force and recruit quality individuals to meet the needs of the district, identify skills and abilities critical to the department needs and recruit to fill those needs, and demonstrate Board and Staff appreciation of Volunteers.

​Enhance Relationships with Neighboring Districts

Look for opportunities to reduce cost, increase efficiencies, and eliminate duplication of efforts. Some options to utilize this line of thought are:
  • Share training opportunities
  • Volunteer pool
  • Explore contracting vehicle maintenance
  • Explore joint purchasing and hiring benefits

Provide Stable Funding for Critical Operations

​Maintain and update replacement schedule that realistically shows current and future needs, develop marketing plan that effectively demonstrates need to the community, and renew the local option levy.  

Safe and Healthy Workplace

Minimize the number and severity of on and off the job injury and illness.

​Maximize Benefits of the SAFER Grant

The SAFER grant funds enable the department to maximize potential volunteer recruitment, retention and training needs of district. 
  • Seek candidates to fill the recruitment and retention positions.
  • Closely monitor program to assure compliance with the terms of grant.
  • Measure and document success
